THE ART OF PERSUASION
Argumentative nonfiction is literature with the purpose to persuade. The elements of persuasion will be introduced as logos, ethos, and pathos and demonstrated through the student favorite Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose. Students will be asked to read persuasive pieces for the elements of persuasion as well as write persuasive pieces. Specifically, the English II EOC/STAAR requires sophomores to write a persuasive essay as a part of the state test. Students will be expected to utilize the elements of persuasion in personal writing in preparation for a higher score on the EOC and for real world application of argumentation.

This link offers a website where citations can be generated for books and other sources such as websites where the source citation has not been provided.
This document is an example of MLA formatting as well as instructions to completing the task. For the specific Works Cited page, see below.
When taking your notes from the t-notes to the outline and then to the actual rough draft and subsequent drafts SHOULD HAVE IN TEXT PARENTHETICAL CITATIONS. The video link above gives additional instruction for these citations.
Feel free to create your Works Cited as you write your research paper and bring it to me to edit. Anything quoted in your paper MUST be on your Works Cited, and anything on your Works Cited MUST be in your paper. Your Works Cited page is part of the final essay document, not a separate document. When typing your essay, go to the LAST page of the document and hold down "control" and then hit the "enter" key. This action will create automatically a new page. If you have formatted your header correctly, it will create a new header with the page number also.
